Life cycle analysis

One Packio can replace ~50 cardboard boxes.

Our internal LCA model (built to ISO 14040/44 methodology, third-party review in progress for 2026) compares a single Packio reusable unit against ~50 single-use corrugated boxes across the full lifecycle: manufacturing, transport, use, reverse logistics, cleaning, and end-of-life.

The pattern is consistent: by the 10th reuse cycle, per-shipment CO₂ footprint drops by approximately 74–75% versus cardboard. By the 50th cycle, near zero. We share the model and assumptions on request — happy to walk your sustainability team through it.

⚑ EU Regulation 2025/40

The PPWR is coming. Are you ready?

By 2030, e-commerce and transport packaging must meet reuse targets under the EU Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation. Brands that start transitioning in 2026 will have 4 years of perfected operations before compliance hits. Timeline based on EU Regulation 2025/40.

12 August 2026

PPWR general application

EU Regulation 2025/40 fully applies across the single market, replacing the 1994 Packaging Directive. General obligations on producers, importers, and distributors take effect.

2027–2028

First reuse milestones

Take-away sector obligations begin (bring-your-own container by 2027, 10% reusable target by 2028). Implementing acts define reuse-rate calculation methodology.

1 January 2030

Article 29 transport & e-commerce reuse targets

At least 40% of transport packaging shipped within the EU must be reusable and part of a reuse system. Applies to intralogistics, inter-warehouse, DC-to-store transport, and e-commerce categories.

2040

70% reuse target

Reuse quota rises to 70% for defined transport and e-commerce packaging categories. Cumulative waste-reduction target of 15% vs 2018 baseline.

Pilot brands

The two anchor brands in pilot design with Packio.

Public and Christou 1910 are our two named pilot partners. Both pilots are in design phase as of May 2026 — real operational metrics will be published once we have multi-month live data. We don't publish anonymized stats we can't tie to a real customer.

A third named case study will appear here when live.

We're in active conversations with brands across multiple verticals. Rather than publish anonymized placeholder metrics now, we'll add the third case study when it has real operational data and customer consent.
